Dua Alqama (Safwan) recited after Ziarat Ashura
Dua Recited After Ziyarat Ashura : Dua popularly known as ‘Alqamah’ is named after the companion of Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him). However, Shaykh Abbas Qummi quotes traditions in Mafatih ul-Jinan that Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) recited this dua in the presence of the companion Safwan, not Alqamah. Therefore, this supplication is also titled “Dua to be recited after Ziyarah Ashura” or “Dua Safwan”.
Ya Allah, Ya Allah, Ya Allah
oh god oh god oh god
O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!
يَا مُجِيبَ دَعْوَةِ ٱلْمُضْطَرِّينَ
he obliged me to pray for him
O He Who responds to the prayer of the distressed!
يَا كَاشِفَ كُرَبِ ٱلْمَكْرُوبِينَ
He revealed the secret of my life
O He Who relieves the agonies of the agonized!
يَا غِيَاثَ ٱلْمُسْتَغِيثِينَ
Ya Ghiyatha Almustaghithina
O Aide of the callers for aid!
يَا صَرِيخَ ٱلْمُسْتَصْرِخِينَ
O sarikha almustasrikhina
O Helper of those who cry for help!
وَيَا مَنْ هُوَ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيَّ مِنْ حَبْلِ ٱلْوَرِيدِ
Who is the best friend of Ilayya Min Habli Alwaridi?
O He Who is nearer to me than my life-vein!
وَيَا مَنْ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ ٱلْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ
Who cares about the people, I don’t know what to do with my heart
O He Who intervenes between man and his heart!
And the
who is not even huwa bilmanzari al-a`la wa bilufuqi almubini
O He Who is in the Highest Position and in the Clear Horizon!
وَيَا مَنْ هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمٰنُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ عَلىٰ ٱٱسْتَوَىٰ
Who is the best of the world?
O He Who is all-beneficial and all-merciful and is established on the Throne!
and
wa ya`lamu ka`inata al-a`yuni wa ma tukhfi alssuduru
O He Who knows the stealthy looks and that which the breasts conceal!
وَيَا مَنْ لَ يَخْفَىٰ عَلَيْهِ خَافِيَةٌ
wa ya man la yakhfa `alayhi khafiyatun
O He from Whom no secret can remain hidden!
يَا مَنْ لَ تَشْتَبِهُ عَلَيْهِ ٱلأَصْوَاتُ
O man la Tashtabihu `alayhi al-aswatu
O He Whom is not confused by the many voices (that pray Him)!
وَيَا مَنْ لَتُغَلِّطُهُ ٱلْحَاجَاتُ
who does not care for pilgrims
O He Who is not confounded by the many requests (that are raised to Him)!
وَيَا مَنْ لَيُبْرِمُهُ إِلْحَاحُ ٱلْمُلِحِّينَ
Who cares la yubrimuhu ilhahu almulihhina
O He Who is not annoyed by the insistence of those who entreat Him persistently!
يَا مُدْرِكَ كُلِّ فَوْتٍ
He turned the knot
O He Who overtakes every attempt of escape!
وَيَا جَامِعَ كُلِّ شَمْلٍ
who went to university kuli shamlin
O Reunifier of every scattering thing!
وَيَا بَارِئَ ٱّ
Who is the one who is a liar?
O Re-originator of the souls after death!
يَا مَنْ هُوَ كُلِّ يَوْمٍ فِي شَأْنٍ
He even made a deal with the most important thing
O He Who is in a state every moment!
يَا قَاضِيَ ٱلْحَاجَاتِ
he prayed for pilgrimage
O Grantor of requests!
يَا مُنَفِّسَ ٱلْكُرُبَاتِ
he hypocrites alkurubati
O reliever of agonies!
يَا مُعْطِيَ پسُّؤُلاَتِ
he is a mu`tiya alsu’ulati
O Conferrer of demands!
يَا وَلِيَّ ٱلرَّغَبَاتِ
oh saint alrraghabati
O Bestower of desires!
يَا كَافِيَ ٱلْمُهِمَّاتِ
He is very generous
O Savior from suffering!
يَا مَنْ يَكْفِي مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
he even made a knot in the tea
O He Who can save from all things
And not
wa la jakfi minhu shay’un fi alssamawati wal-ardi
and nothing in the heavens or in the earth can save from Him!
As
as’aluka bihaqqi muhammadin khatami alnnabiyyina
I beseech You in the name of Muhammad the seal of the Prophets,
وَعَلِيٍّ أَمِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
to “Aliyyin Amiri” Aminina
`Ali the commander of the faithful,
and
wa bihaqqi fatima binti nabiyyika
Fatimah the daughter of Your Prophet,
وَبِحَقِّ ٱلْحَسَنِ وَٱلْحُسَيْنِ
wa bihaqqi alhasani walhusayni
al-Hasan, and al-Husayn,
فَإِنِّي بِهِمْ أَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ فِي مَقَامِي هٰذَا
Fainni bihim atawajjahu ilayka fi maqami hadha
for I turn my face towards You in their names at this very situation of mine,
وَبِهِمْ أَتَوَسَّلُ
wa bihim atawassalu
I make them my means to you,
وَبِهِمْ أَتَشَفَّعُ إِلَيْكَ
wa bihim atashaffa `u ilayka
I seek their intercession for me with You,
and
wa bihaqqihim asaluka wa uqsimu wa azimu `alayka
I beseech You in the name of Your duty towards them, I adjure You, and I beg You earnestly,
وَبِٱلشَّأْنِ ٱلَّذِي لَهُمْ عِنْدَكَ
wa bilshsha’ni alladhi lahum `indaka
in the name of the status that they enjoy with You,
وَبِٱلْقَدْرِ ٱلَّذِي لَهُمْ عِنْدَكَ
wa bilqadri alladhi lahum `indaka
the value that they enjoy in Your sight,
وَبِٱلَّذِي فَضَّلْتَهُمْ عَلىٰ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
wa billadhi faddaltahum `ala al’alamina
in the name of the thing by which You have preferred them over all the other beings,
وَبِٱسْمِكَ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلْتَهُ عِنْدَهُمْ
wa bismika alladhi ja`altahu `indahum
in the name of Your Name that You have placed with them
وَبِهِ خَصَصْتَهُمْ دُونَ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
wa bihi khasastahum duna alamina
and given them exclusively other than all the other beings,
وَبِهِ أَبَنْتَهُمْ
wa bihi abanthaum
and through which You have distinguished them
وَأَبَنْتَ فَضْلَهُمْ مِنْ فَضْلِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
To her friend, please be kind to me
and demonstrated their distinctive precedence over all the other beings so uniquely
حَتَّىٰ فَاقَ فَضْلُهُمْ فَضْلَ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ جَمِيعاً
even faqa fadluhum fadla alam my officers
that their preference has exceeded all the distinctive features of all the other beings;
أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
Asaluka is called `ala Muhammadin wa Ali Muhammadin
I beseech You (in the name of all that) to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
وَأَنْ تَكْشِفَ عَنِّي غَمِّي
who was taksihed `anni ghammi
to relieve me from my distress,
وَهَمِّي وَكَرْبِي
who wants to accept
grief, and agony,
وَتَكْفِيَنِي ٱلْمُهِمَّ مِنْ أُمُورِي
who is takfiani almuhimma order me
to make up for me all my distressing affairs,
وَتَقْضِيَ عَنِّي دَيْنِي
wa taqdiya `anni dayni
to help me settle my debts,
وَتُجِيـرَنِي مِنَ ٱلْفَقْرِ
who gave me alfaqri
to safeguard me against poverty,
وَتُجِيـرَنِي مِنَ ٱلْفَاقَةِ
Who are you going to help me with?
to safeguard me against scarcity,
and
wa tughniyani `an almas’alati ila almakhlukina
to make me dispense with begging from the created beings,
وَتَكْفِيَنِي هَمَّ مَنْ اَخَافُ هَمَّهُ
wa takfiyani hamma man akhafu hammahu
to spare me from the distress of what I anticipate to distress me,
وَعُسْرَ مَنْ أَخَافُ عُسْرَهُ
wa `usra man akhafu `usrahu
the difficulty of what I anticipate to be difficult for me,
وَحُزُونَةَ مَنْ اَخَافُ حُزُونَتَهُ
wa huzunata man akhafu huzunatahu
the toughness of what I anticipate to be hard for me (to deal with),
وَشَرَّ مَنْ اَخَافُ شَرَّهُ
wa sharra man akhafu sharrahu
the evil of what I anticipate to be evil,
وَمَكْرَ مَنْ أَخَافُ مَكْرَهُ
wa makra man akhafu makrahu
the conspiracy of whom I anticipate to plot conspiracy (against me),
وَبَغْيَ مَنْ أَخَافُ بَغْيَهُ
wa baghya man akhafu baghyahu
the tyranny of whom I anticipate to treat me tyrannically,
وَجَوْرَ مَنْ أَخَافُ جَوْرَهُ
wa jawra man akhafu jawrahu
the injustice of whom I anticipate to be unjust to me
and سلطانه
wa sultana man akhafu sultanahu
the domination of whom I anticipate to dominate me,
وَكَيْدَ مَنْ أَخَافُ كَيْدَهُ
who saved oil akafu kaydahu
the trickery of whom I anticipate to trick me,
And
wa maqdurata man akhafu maqduratahu `alayya
and the authority of whom I anticipate to seize me,
وَتَرُدَّ عَنِّي كَيْدَ ٱلْكَيَدَةِ
who disturbs the record of the year
and to ward off from me the tricks of the deceivers
وَمَكْرَ ٱلْمَكَرَةِ
wa makra almakarati
and the cunning of the devious.
God bless you
Allahumma man aradani fa’arid-hu
O Allah, stand for me against him who intends evil for me,
وَمَنْ كَادَنِي فَكِدْهُ
wa man kadani fakid-hu
intrigue against him who intends to conspire against me,
وَٱصْرِفْ عَنِّي كَيْدهُ وَمَكْرَهُ
wasrif `anni kaydahu wa makrahu
turn away from me his tricks, cunning,
وَبَأْسَهُ وَأَمَانِيَّهُ
those who do not know and those who believe
influence, and evil desires,
and
wamna`hu `anni kayfa shi’ta wa anna shi’ta
and prevent him against me in any way You choose and at any time You choose.

O Allah, (please) preoccupy him against me
بِفَقْرٍ لَ تَجْبُرُهُ
bifaqrin la tajburuhu
by means of poverty that You never cut down,
وَبِبَلاءٍ لَتَسْتُرُهُ
wa bibalain la tastaruhu
ordeals that you never recover,
وَبِفَاقَةٍ لَ تَسُدُّهَا
wa bifaqatin la tasudduha
neediness that you never stop,
وَبِسُقْمٍ لَتُعَافِيهِ
wa bisuqmin la tu`afihi
ailment that you never heal,
وَذُلٍّ لَ تُعِزُّهُ
wa dhullin la tuizzuhu
humility that you never change into dignity,
وَبِمَسْكَنَةٍ لَتَجْبُرُهَا
wa bimaskanatin la tajburuha
and destitution that You never cut down.
God bless you
Allahumma idrib bildhdhulli nasba `aynahi
O Allah, (please) strike him with humility in the center of his eyes,
وَأَدْخِلْ عَلَيْهِ ٱلْفَقْرَ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ
wa adkhil `alayhi alfaqra fi manzihi
interleave poverty to his own house,
وَٱلْعِلَّةَ وَٱلسُّقْمَ فِي بَدَنِهِ
wal`illata walsuqma fi badanihi
place ailment and disease in his body
حَتَّىٰ تَشْغَلَهُ عَنِّي بِشُغْلٍ شَاغِلٍ لَفَرَاغَ لَهُ
even tashghalahu `anni bishughlin shaghilin la faraha lahu
so that You will preoccupy him with an engrossing, relentless preoccupation,
and
wa ansihi dhikri kama ansaytahu dhikraka
make him fail to remember me in the same was as he has failed to remember you,
وَخُذْ عَنِّي بِسَمْعِهِ وَبَصَرِهِ
wa khudh `anni bisami`ihi wa basarihi
divert from me his hearing, sight,
وَلِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ
who speaks and who speaks
tongue, hand,
وَرِجْلِهِ وَقَلْبِهِ
wa rijlihi wa qalbihi
leg, heart,
وَجَمِيعِ جَوَارِحِهِ
to the official
and all of his organs,
and
wa adkhil `alayhi fi jami dhalika alsuqma
place in him sickness in all these (organs),
وَلا تَشْفِهِ حَتَّىٰ تَجْعَلَ ذٰلِكَ لَهُ شُغْلاً شَاغِلاً بِهِ
wa la tashfihi even taj`ala dhalika lahu shughlan shaghilan bihi
and do not heal him so that all these (sicknesses) will preoccupy him relentlessly
عَنِّي وَعَنْ ذِكْرِي
“anni wa `an dhikr
from me and from mentioning me.
and
Wakfini is strong and strong
And spare me, O Savior, from all that which cannot be spared by anyone other than You,
فَإِنَّكَ ٱلْكَافِي لَ كَافِيَ سِوَاكَ
Fainaka alkafi la kafiya siwaka
for You are verily the Savior; and there is no savior other than You,
وَمُفَرِّجٌ لَ مُفَرِّجَ سِوَاكَ
wa mufarrijun la mufarrija siwaka
You are verily the Reliever, and there is no reliever other than You,
وَمُغِيثٌ لَ مُغِيثَ سِوَاكَ
wa mughithun la mughitha siwaka
You are verily the Succorer, and there is no succorer other than You,
وَجَارٌ لَ جَارَ سِوَاكَ
wa jarun la jara siwaka
and You are verily the Shelterer, and there is no shelterer other than You.
خَابَ مَنْ كَانَ جَارُهُ سِوَاكَ
I don’t know if you are a soldier
Disappointed is he whose shelterer is other than You,
وَمُغِيثُهُ سِوَاكَ
wa mughithuhu siwaka
whose recourse to anywhere other than You,
وَمَفْزَعُهُ إِلَىٰ سِوَاكَ
wa mafza`uhu ila siwaka
whose resort is anywhere other than You,
وَمَهْرَبُهُ إِلَىٰ سِوَاكَ
to Mahrabhu ila Siwaka
whose way out is anywhere other than You,
وَمَلْجَأُهُ إِلَىٰ غَيْرِكَ
For the poor, there is nothing wrong with them
whose haven is anywhere other than You,
وَمَنْجَاهُ مِنْ مَخْلُوقٍ غَيْرِكَ
I don’t care about other creatures
and whose savior from any created being is anyone other than You.
فَأَنْتَ ثِقَتِي وَرَجَائِي
praise thiqati wa raja’i
You are truly my trust, my hope,
وَمَفْزَعِي وَمَهْرَبِي
wa mahrabi wa mahrabi
my resort, my way out,
وَمَلْجَإِي وَمَنْجَايَ
for the poor and for the poor
my haven, and my savior.
فَبِكَ أَسْتَفْتِحُ
fabika asfatihu
With you do I begin
وَبِكَ أَسْتَنْجِحُ
who asked for help
and through You do I seek success.
وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
wa bimuhammadin wa ali muhammadin
In the name of Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
أَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ وَأَتَوَسَّلُ وَأَتَشَفَّعُ
atawajjahu ilayka wa atawassalu wa atashaffa`u
do I turn my face towards You, seek means to You, and seek intercession to You.
Ya Allah
Fasaluka, oh God, oh God, oh God
So, I beseech You, O God! O Allah! O Allah!
فَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ وَلَكَ ٱلْشُّكْرُ
Alshshukru thanks to Laka Alshshukru
Yours is all praise and Yours is all thanks.
and
wa ilayka almushtaka wa anta almusta`anu
So You are my complaint and You are the Besought for help.
Ya Allah
Fasaluka, oh God, oh God, oh God
So, I beseech You, O God! O Allah! O Allah!
بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّـدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّـدٍ
bihaqqi muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
In the name of Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
`ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin was mentioned
to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
and
Who is takshifa `anni ghammi wa hammi who received
and to relieve my distress, grief, and agony
فِي مَقَامِي هٰذَا
more powerful
in this situation of mine
كَمَا كَشَفْتَ عَنْ نَبِيِّكَ هَمَّهُ وَغَمَّهُ وَكَرْبَهُ
kama kashafa `an nabiyyika hammahu wa ghammahu wa karbahu
in the same way as You have relieved the distress, grief, and agony of Your Prophet
وَكَفَيْتَهُ هَوْلَ عَدُوِّهِ
wa kafaytahu hawla `aduwihi
and saved him from the horrors of his enemy.
فَٱكْشِفْ عَنِّي كَمَا كَشَفْتَ عَنْهُ
Fakshif `anni kama kashafta `anhu
So, (please) relieve me in the same way as You did to him,
وَفَرِّجْ عَنِّي كَمَا فَرَّجْتَ عَنْهُ
wa farrij `anni kama farrajta `anhu
dispel my worries in the same way as you did to him,
وَٱكْفِنِي كَمَا كَفيْتَهُ
wakfini kama kafaytahu
save me in the same way as You did to him,
وَٱصْرِفْ عَنِّي هَوْلَ مَا أَخَافُ هَوْلَهُ
wasrif `anni hawla ma akhafu hawlahu
drive away from me the horror of what I anticipate to horrify me,
and
for those who love me, they also love those who love me
the encumbrance of what I anticipate to overburden me,
وَهَمَّ مَا أَخَافُ هَمَّهُ
wa hamma ma akhafu hamhamu
and the distress of what I anticipate to distress me
بِلا مَؤُونَةٍ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِي مِنْ ذٰلِكَ
I don’t care about my soul
without making me suffer any encumbrance due to all that.
وَٱصْرِفْنِي بِقَضَاءِ حَوَائِجِي
wasrifni biqada hawaji
And make me leave having all my requests granted
وَكِفَايَةِ مَا اَهَمَّنِي هَمُّهُ
wa kifayati ma ahammani hamhamu
and having all my distresses relieved,
مِنْ أَمْرِ اخِرَتِي وَدُنْيَايَ
I command the akhirati wa dunyaya
including the affairs of this world and the Hereafter.
يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
he commanded my believers
O Commander of the Faithful!
And he obeyed God
who said `Abdillahi
O Abu-`Abdullah!
Peace be upon you forever
“alaykum and peace be upon me, God forever
Peace of Allah be upon you both from me forever
What did you do?
I’m sorry for the strangers
as long as I am existing and as long as there are day and night.
وَلَاَ جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ اخِرَ ٱلْعَهْدِ مِنْ زِيَارَتِكُمَا
wa la jalahu allahu akhira al-ahdi min ziyaratikum
May Allah not decide this time of my visit to you both to be the last.
And there is no difference between Allah and you
who has woken up, Allah has given me to those who have not
May Allah never separate me from you both.

May God bless Muhammad for life
O Allah, (please) make me live the same lifestyle that Muhammad and his offspring lived,
وَأَمِتْنِي مَمَاتَهُمْ
wa amitni mamatahum
make me die on the same faith on which they died,
وَتَوَفَّنِي عَلَىٰ مِلَّتِهِمْ
wa tawaffani `ala millatihim
receive my soul while I am following their religion,
وَٱحْشُرْنِي فِي زُمْرَتِهِمْ
wahshurni than zumratihim
include me with their group,
وَلاَ تُفَرِّقْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ
wa la tufarriq bayni wa baynahum
and never separate me from them
طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ أَبَداً
welcome forever
not for even a winking of any eye
فِي ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلاخِرَةِ
fi aldunya wal-akhirati
in this world and in the Hereafter.
يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
he commanded my believers
O Commander of the Faithful!
And he obeyed God
who said `Abdillahi
O Abu-`Abdullah!
أَتَيْتُكُمَا زَائِراً
atayutukuma zairan
I have come to you both to visit you,
And we pray to God
wa mutawassilan ila allah rabbi wa rabbikuma
making both of you to be my means to Allah your and my Lord,
وَمُتَوَجِّهاً إِلَيْهِ بِكُمَا
wa mutawajjihan ilayhi bikuma
turning my face to Him in your names,
وَمُسْتَشْفِعاً بِكُمَا ِلَىٰ ALLAHِ تَعَالىٰ فِي حَاجَتِي Hٰذِِ
For those who are righteous, God Almighty is more in need of Hadith
and seeking your intercession for me with Allah All-exalted to grant me this request of mine;
فَٱشْفَعَا لِي
pashfa`a li
so, intercede for me,
فَإِنَّ لَكُمَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ ٱلْمَقَامَ ٱلْمَحْمُودَ
Fainna lakuma `where God blesses Almahmuda
since you both enjoy with Allah a praiseworthy position,
وَٱلْجَاهَ ٱلْوَجِيهَ
waljaha alwajiha
an admissible status,
وَٱلْمَنْزِلَ ٱلرَّفِيعَ وَٱلْوَسِيلَةَ
walmanzila alrrafi`a walwasilata
a lofty standing, and a means (of nearness to Him).
إِنِّي أَنْقَلِبُ عَنْكُمَا
inni anqalibu `ankuma
I will now leave you both,
مُنْتَظِراً لِتَنَجُّزِ ٱلْحَاجَةِ
muntaziran litanajjuzi pilgrimage
expecting my request to be granted,
وَقَدَائِهَا وَقََّحِهَ مِنَ اللَِّ
wa qadiha wa najahiha min allah
settled, and made successful by Allah
بِشَفَعَتِكُمَ لــــــــــــــــــــةـ
Bishafa`atikuma li ila Allah is the most righteous
on account of your intercession for me with God in that;
فَلا اَخِيبُ
Goodbye
so, don’t let me down
And not
wa la yakunu munqalabi munqalaban kha’iban khasiran
and do not make me leave with disappointment and loss;
بَلْ يَكُونُ مُنْقَلَبِي مُنْقَلَباً رَاجِحاً
bal yakunu munqalabi munqalabi rajihan
rather, make me leave with achievement,
مُفْلِحاً مُنْجِحاً مُسْتَجَابً
muflihan munjihan mustajaban
prosperity, success, and response (of my prayers)
بِقَضَاءِ جَمِيعِ حَوَائِجِي
biqadi official hawaji
by having all my requests granted.
وَتَشَفَّعَا لِيِلَىٰ اللَِّّ
Who cares but God
And (please) intercede for me with God recurrently.
God willing
inqalabtu `ala ma shaa allahu
I now leave on ‘whatever is willed by Allah shall come to pass’
وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلَّ بِلَّهِ
who has power and power but billahi
and ‘there is neither might nor power except with Allah’,
مُفَوِضاً اَمْرِي إِلَىٰ اللَِّّ
The only command is Allah
relegating all my affairs to Allah,
مُلْجِآً ظَهْرِي إِلَىٰ اللَِّّ
muljian zahri ila Allah
referring all my power to Allah,
Trustworthy is Allah
Mutawakklan `ala Allahi
depending upon Allah,
وَأَقُولُ حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ وَكَفَىٰ
wa aqulu hasbiya allahu wa kafa
and repeating, ‘Allah is only sufficient for me,’
He will pray to God
sami`a Allahu liman da`a
and ‘May Allah respond to him who prays to Him.’
He is not against God
God bless you
Other than Allah
and
for wara’akum he satat muntaha
and other than you all, O my masters, I have nothing to put my hope in.
مَا شَاءَ رَبِّي كَانَ
You are also interested, Rabbi
Only that which my Lord wills shall come to pass,
وَمَا لَمْ يَشَأْ لَمْ يَكُنْ
wa ma lam yasha’ lam yakun
and whatever He does not will never be.
وَلَاَ حَوْلَ وَلَاَ قُوَّةَ إِلَّ بِلَّهِ
who has power and power but billahi
There is neither might nor power except with Allah.

astawdi `ukuma allah
I entrust you both with Allah.
وَلَا جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ اخِرَ ٱلْعَهْدِ مِنِي إِلَيْكُمَا
wa la ja`alahu allahu akhira al`ahdi minni ilaykuma
May Allah never decide this time of my visit to you both to be the last.
The
Insaraftu said he was the leader of the faithful to Mawlaya
May I now leave, O my master, O Commander of the faithful
وَأَنْتَ YAَا عَبَا عَبْدِ اللَِّّ YA سَيِّدِ
Abdillahi said to him
and you O Abu-`Abdullah, O my master.
وَسَلَمِي عَلَيْكُمَا مُتَّصِلٌ
Peace be upon you
My greetings to you both are as continuous
What is the end of the day?
ma ittasala alaylu walnnaharu
as night and day.
وَاصِلٌ ذٰلِكَ إِلَيْكُمَا
wasilul dhalika ilaykuma
May my greetings reach you both (all the time)
غَيْرُ مَحْجُوبٍ عَنْكُمَا سَلَامِي
ghayru mahjubin `ankuma salami
and my salutation never be screened from reaching you both,
God willing
God willing
God willing.
and
wa as’aluhu bihaqqikum an yasha’a dhalik wa yaf`ala
I also beseech Him in your names to determine and do that,
فَإِنَّهُ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ
Fainahu hamidun majidun
for He is verily the owner of praise and the owner of glory.
إِنْقَلَبْتُ يَا سَيِّدَيَّ عَنْكُمَا
Inqalabtu bought `ankuma
I am now leaving you both, O my masters,
تَائِباً حَامِداً لِلَّهِ
Taiba Hamidan Lillahi
repenting to and praising Allah,
شَاكِراً رَاجِياً لِلإِْجَابَةِ
shakiran rajiyan lil-ijabati
and thanking Him and hoping Him to respond to me;
غَيْرَ آيِسٍ وَلاَ قَانِطٍ
ghayra aisin wa la qanitin
I neither despair nor lose hope,
آِباً عَائِدً رَاجِعً إِلَىٰ زِيَارَتِكُمَا
except “idan raji`an ila ziyaratikum too
and I intend to come back, return, revisit you both,
غَيْرَ رَاغِبٍ عَنْكُمَا وَلَ عَنْ زِيَارَتِكُمَا
ghayra raghibin `ankuma wa anan ziyaratikuma
while I have never desired to leave you or to abandon visiting you;
in the grace of God
I will not give up my prayers, God willing
rather, I shall return and come back, if Allah wills.
وَلَاَ حَوْلَ وَلَاَ قُوَّةَ إِلَّ بِلَّهِ
who has power and power but billahi
There is neither might nor power except with Allah.
يَا سَادَتِي رَغِبْتُ إِلَيْكُمَا وَإِلَىٰ زِيَارَتِكُمَا
he satati raghibtu ilaykuma wa ila ziyaratikuma
O my masters, I do desire for both of you and for visiting you
بَعْدَ أَنْ زَهِدَ فِيكُمَا وَفِي زِيَارَتِكُمَا اَهْلُ ٱلدُّنْيَا
I have not been singled out for the most visited people in the world
although the people of this world (may) abandon you both or abandon visiting you.
I do not hate Allah for what I prayed for and what I hoped for in your visitation.
Fala Khayyabaniya Allahu mimma rajawtu wa ma ammaltu fi ziyaratikum too
May Allah never make me fail to attain what I have hoped and desired in visiting you both.
إِنَّهُ قَرِيبٌ مُجِيبٌ
innahu kirabin muzig
Verily, He is All-nigh, All-responding.
