A short field note on the ocean giants that pass through the shelf break each autumn. The pod moved north along the 200 m line for six hours, surfacing every four to five minutes, and the calves stayed inside the formation the whole way. Water 14 C, swell under a metre, visibility better than twenty metres. We logged nine individuals and two breaches.
